Key takeaways
- The hotel calls itself a 5-star luxury resort; Trip.com lists it as a 4-Star Select Hotel with 86 rooms, opened 2015.
- The hotel website publishes undated rates from Rs 4,999 (Deluxe) to Rs 14,999 (Presidential Suite) per night.
- Trip.com gives a 10-minute drive to Mahakaleshwar; it is on Indore Road, not within walking distance.
- Facilities include a spa, pool, gym, sauna and five banquet venues, the largest a lawn listed at 3,000-3,500.
- Our earlier card's 4-star, 4 km and Rs 3,500-9,000 figures are older and should not be relied on.
Hotel Anjushree Ujjain is an upscale hotel on Indore Road that calls itself a 5-star luxury resort, while Trip.com labels it a 4-Star Select hotel. Trip.com lists 86 rooms, opened in 2015, with a spa, pool and banquet space, and about a ten-minute drive to Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. Rates and ratings differ by source.
We compared the hotel's own website with Trip.com and with our earlier card, all checked on 5 October 2026. Prices and facilities can change, so treat everything here as a starting point. To see how it stacks up against other luxury hotels in Ujjain, use the comparison page. We have not stayed at the hotel, and this is not a review.
Hotel Anjushree Ujjain at a glance
Hotel Anjushree is on Indore Road in Ujjain. The two main sources describe the same hotel but print the address differently. The table collects the basic facts and says where each came from.
| Fact | Detail | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Address | A-1, Indore Road, Goyal Nagar, Ujjain 456010 | Hotel website |
| Address (variant) | 72 Indore Rd, Goyala Khurd, Pawapuri Colony, 456010 | Trip.com |
| Star label | "5-Star Luxury Resort" (self-description); 4-Star Select Hotel | Hotel website; Trip.com |
| Rooms | "100+" rooms; 86 rooms | Hotel website; Trip.com |
| Opened | 2015 | Trip.com |
| Check-in / check-out | 24-hour flexible; after 12:00 / before 10:00 | Hotel website; Trip.com |
| Facilities | Spa, pool, gym, banquet halls, restaurants | Hotel website; Trip.com |
| Guest score | 9.0 out of 10 from 40 reviews | Trip.com |
The address variants may not be a conflict: Goyal Nagar, Goyala Khurd and Pawapuri Colony may all describe the same stretch of Indore Road, but public pages do not confirm that. Give your taxi driver the hotel name and the Indore Road location, and keep the PIN 456010 handy.
Is Anjushree 4-star or 5-star?
The answer depends on who is labelling it. The hotel website describes a 5-star luxury resort. Trip.com files the hotel as a 4-Star Select Hotel. Our own earlier card said 4-star. We did not find an official classification certificate in the sources we read, so we cannot state a star category as fact.
| Source | Label used | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel website | 5-Star Luxury Resort | The hotel's own description |
| Trip.com | 4-Star Select Hotel | A platform category, not an official grade |
| Our earlier card | 4-star | Last updated 28 March 2026 |
Instead of arguing about stars, judge the facilities. A spa, a pool, a gym, a sauna, more than one restaurant and several banquet halls put the hotel in the upper end of Ujjain's range, whichever label you prefer. Trip.com also notes that the hotel opened in 2015, so some rooms may show more wear than a new build, and a few Trip.com reviews mention hot water consistency, power outlets and switches, and room cleaning. Treat those as a reason to ask for a room check on arrival, not as a verdict.
Location on Indore Road and distance to Mahakal
Hotel Anjushree is on Indore Road, and both sources describe the temple as a short drive, not a walk. Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Wikipedia's page on Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga gives the background on the temple, and the official temple site is the place to check darshan rules before you plan the day.
Distance figures compared
The sources give the distance in different forms, so there is no single number to quote.
| Source | Distance or time to Mahakaleshwar | Reliability |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel website | "Just minutes away", no figure | Marketing wording |
| Trip.com | 10-minute drive | Platform estimate; traffic changes it |
| Our earlier card | 4 km | Older figure; conflicts with other snippets, so do not rely on it |
Another aggregator snippet gave about 5 km by road, but we did not open that page, so we have not used it. A ten-minute drive is plausible off-peak and slower around festival days, when roads near the temple are managed. Ask the hotel for a realistic time on the day you travel.
Station and airport
Trip.com lists Vikram Nagar railway station at 4.14 km and Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport in Indore at 52.1 km. It does not list Ujjain Junction for this hotel, which is the main station for most long-distance trains, so check the distance in your maps app if you arrive there. Our earlier card said 3.5 km to the station, but it did not say which one. Treat all of these as map estimates; on the day, the driver's route decides the real time.
Rooms and the rates the hotel publishes
Hotel Anjushree's own website shows per-night prices by room category. They are undated, and the page does not say whether they include tax, breakfast or season changes, so read them as the rack rates we saw on 5 October 2026 and not as an offer.
Room categories
| Category | Hotel website rate per night (undated) | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Deluxe | Rs 4,999 | Entry category |
| Executive | Rs 6,999 | Trip.com lists Executive types too |
| Club | Rs 8,999 | Trip.com lists a Club Room |
| Family | Rs 11,999 | Trip.com lists a Family King |
| Presidential Suite | Rs 14,999 | Trip.com lists a Presidential Suite |
Trip.com's breakdown of the 86 rooms shows numbers beside Club Room (8), Junior Suite (12), Presidential Suite (18) and Family King (9). The page does not explain them, though they look like room counts, so we do not rely on them. What matters is that the hotel sells at least five categories and the top ones are priced well above the entry room.
Rack rate vs OTA average
Trip.com shows an average of about USD 95 for the hotel. We have not converted that to rupees, because exchange rates and the date of the average are not stated. Our earlier card listed Rs 3,500 to Rs 9,000, which is lower than the hotel's current rack rates for the upper categories, so the card is out of date. When the hotel's rate and an online rate differ, ask which one includes breakfast and taxes, and whether the cancellation terms are the same.
Spa, pool, restaurants and banquet halls
The hotel website lists a spa, an infinity pool and lounge, a gym and a Finnish sauna. Trip.com lists a spa, a gym, an indoor pool, a business center, free valet parking and two restaurants. The website names one restaurant, Reshmie Restaurant & Lounge, while Trip.com counts two, so ask which outlets are open on your dates.
The pool is described differently too: an infinity pool on the hotel site and an indoor pool on Trip.com. If swimming matters, confirm the pool type, hours and any guest rules before booking. For other options with a pool, see our list of hotels in Ujjain with a swimming pool.
Banquet capacities
The hotel website lists five event spaces with capacity numbers. It does not say whether the numbers are seated or standing, so ask for the layout you need.
| Venue | Capacity listed |
|---|---|
| Jal-Tarang Lawn | 3,000-3,500 |
| Mridang Hall | 350-450 |
| Sitar Hall | 80-100 |
| Sarangi Hall | 25-30 |
| Veena Hall | 15-20 |
The venues range from a lawn for thousands to a hall for a few dozen. A pilgrim may never use them, but a large event can affect weekend crowds and noise, so ask whether one is booked on your dates.
Guest scores: how much weight to give them
Trip.com shows 9.0 out of 10 from 40 reviews. That is a high score, but 40 reviews is a small sample, and Trip.com's score reflects the guests who chose to review on that platform. Our earlier card quoted 4.4 out of 5 from 8,498 Google reviews, which is a different platform, a different scale and an older snapshot, so the two numbers cannot be averaged or compared directly. Read the written reviews on each platform for the recent pattern, and look for comments about the specific room category you plan to book.
Questions to ask before you book
Because the sources disagree on several points, a short message to the hotel before you pay can settle most of them. Ask for the answers in writing, by email or WhatsApp, so you have a record.
- Rate: which category does the price cover, and does it include tax and breakfast?
- Rooms: when was the room you are booking last renovated, and can you see it before accepting?
- Check-in and check-out: is the 24-hour flexible rule on the hotel website applicable to your booking, or is the standard noon check-in on Trip.com?
- Pool and spa: which pool is open, at what hours, and is the spa bookable in advance?
- Events: is a wedding or conference booked in the lawn or halls on your dates?
- Distance: how long does the drive to Mahakaleshwar usually take at the hour you plan to leave?
- Cancellation: what are the terms if your darshan plan or train changes?
These questions cost nothing and they address the exact points where the public pages contradict one another.
Who Anjushree suits and what to compare it with
These points are our reading of the listed facts. The hotel may suit travellers who want a spa and pool after a temple day, families that need a larger room category, and groups attending an event on site. It may suit you less if you want to walk to Mahakaleshwar, because the hotel is a drive away, or if you need a fixed all-inclusive price, because rates are undated.
For a wider view, read our guide to five-star luxury hotels near Ujjain and the comparison of 4-star hotels in Ujjain. If a short walk to the temple is your priority, look at the stays on our near-Mahakal list instead. You can also open the older Hotel Anjushree quick card, but its star, distance and price figures are being re-checked. To ask for help comparing, use the WhatsApp option on the site; no booking is made on this page.
