Hotel Atharva Ujjain is a hotel that Trip.com labels 3-star, on the Mahakal-Harsiddhi bypass road beside Jantar Mantar. Its own website lists a vegetarian-focus Modak Restaurant, banquet halls, complimentary breakfast and parking. Room count and distance to Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga vary by source, so confirm both before you book.

Location: next to Jantar Mantar on the Mahakal-Harsiddhi road

The hotel places itself near Jantar Mantar, the observatory on the same road, which gives you a fixed point to navigate by. Wikipedia describes the Vedh Shala observatory as built in 1725 by Maharaja Jai Singh II, rebuilt in 1974 and restored in 1982, with 13 instruments.

What is within a few hundred metres

Trip.com lists the following distances from the hotel. They are the platform's own figures, so treat them as a guide for planning a walk rather than an exact measurement.

Nothing in this list is a measured walking route. A few hundred metres on a map can be longer on foot if a road is divided or a lane is closed, so ask the front desk how guests usually walk to the Jantar Mantar gate.

Distance to Mahakal, the station and the airport

The hotel website says Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is "8 min" away; it does not say whether that is by foot or by vehicle, or give a distance in kilometres. Trip.com does not list a distance to the temple at all. Our own earlier card said 800 m, but we could not confirm that figure from any source we read, so we are not repeating it as fact. Mahakaleshwar is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, and darshan queues and entry rules change often, so check the official temple site before planning the day around any distance.

For arrival, Trip.com puts Ujjain Junction at 2.86 km. The airport figure of 56.99 km refers to Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport in Indore, the airport used for Ujjain. Allow road time on top of the kilometres, because that route runs through city and highway traffic.

Rooms and room types

The hotel website lists three room names with sizes, while Trip.com lists different category names. Both lists can be true at once, since an OTA often renames the same room, but we cannot match them one-to-one from public pages.

What the hotel lists

The Executive Room is the larger of the two named standard rooms at 312 sq ft against 288 sq ft for the Deluxe Room, and both are described for two adults. If you travel as a family, ask before booking whether an extra bed is possible, because neither source states a bed policy we can quote.

What Trip.com lists

Trip.com reports a 118-room property and welcomes children from age 1, while pets are not allowed. A 118-room figure also appears in an ixigo search snippet that mentions seven floors, though ixigo itself would not load for us, so we treat that as supporting rather than confirmed.

Amenities: restaurant, banquet, parking

The two main sources broadly agree on amenities, with a few differences in wording.

• Restaurant: the hotel website describes Modak Restaurant with a vegetarian focus, and Trip.com also lists a Modak restaurant. Ask about food outside the vegetarian menu if that matters to your group.
• Breakfast: the hotel website says breakfast is complimentary. Confirm on the rate you book, since OTA rates are sometimes room-only.
• Banquets and meetings: the hotel website lists banquet halls, and Trip.com lists a conference room. Neither gives capacities, so ask for them in writing if you are planning an event.
• Parking: free parking is listed by Trip.com and parking is listed by the hotel.
• Wi-Fi: Trip.com says Wi-Fi in public areas. The hotel website does not state a Wi-Fi policy in its own facility list; the only mention we found is a guest testimonial on that site saying "free wifi". Ask if you need a working connection in the room.
• Other services: Trip.com also lists a garden, laundry, luggage storage and taxi booking.

Price: what the sources show

The hotel website publishes no room rate that we could find. The only figure on a public page is Trip.com's listed average of INR 5,201, which is undated, so read it as the average Trip.com showed on 5 October 2026 and not as a tariff. Our earlier card listed INR 2,000 to 5,000 and was last updated on 28 March 2026. Because the two ranges overlap but differ at the top, neither is a quote.

When you ask for a rate, ask what taxes, breakfast and extra-person charges are included. Booking.com and other platforms may show a different figure on the same day, so compare at least two.

Where the sources disagree

Four public descriptions of one hotel rarely match line by line. The table below lists the conflicts so you can ask the right questions. We have not picked a winner where public pages do not allow it.

The room count is the biggest gap. Our own card said 42 rooms, while Trip.com says 118. We cannot tell which figure is right and the card is being re-checked, so treat the room total as unconfirmed and ask the hotel. You can still see that older Hotel Atharva quick card for the basic details. Scores from different platforms are also not comparable, because each uses its own scale and review pool.

The district portal adds a small point of its own. It lists Hotel Atharva under accommodation with a short address and PIN 456001 and no star, room or amenity details; you can see the entry on the Ujjain district accommodation directory. A postal code mismatch like this is usually harmless, but quote the full address when you book a taxi.

Who Hotel Atharva suits and alternatives

These points are our reading of the listed facts, not a review. The hotel may suit you if you want a base near Jantar Mantar with a restaurant on site, complimentary breakfast and parking, and if the group wants banquet space for a small function. The Trip.com note that children from age 1 are welcome helps families, but Trip.com's no-pets rule is a problem if you are travelling with a dog. The hotel website's facility icons include "Pet Friendly", so the two sources conflict; confirm with the hotel.

It may suit you less if you need a fixed, published rate before you decide, if you rely on non-vegetarian food in the hotel restaurant, or if you want a measured walking distance to Mahakaleshwar, because the public sources do not give one.

Before you pay, send the hotel four questions and keep the replies: what total the quoted rate includes, whether breakfast and taxes are in it, which check-in time applies to your booking, and how the front desk would route you on foot to Jantar Mantar.
