Key takeaways
- Hotel Shri Salasar (1.8 km, about 24 min on foot) and Nirvana Boutique Hotel (1.9 km, about 26 min) are the closest verified hotels to ISKCON Ujjain.
- ISKCON is 6.5 km by road and 5.4 km on foot (about 72 min) from Mahakaleshwar on OpenStreetMap routing, so no hotel is close to both temples.
- Booking-site 'near ISKCON' distances can be wrong: Trip.com listed two Mahakal-belt hotels at 1.2-1.5 km that route at 4.5-5.1 km by road.
- The ISKCON guest house location (Hare Krishna Land, Bharatpuri) is confirmed by two sources; room types, amenities, prices and timings are not.
The closest verified hotels near ISKCON Temple Ujjain are Hotel Shri Salasar, about 1.9 km by road and a 24-minute walk, and Nirvana Boutique Hotel, 2.0 km by road and about 26 minutes on foot. Hotel Mittal Avenue, MPT Shipra Residency, Krishnaalay Guest House and MPT Ujjaini follow within roughly 3 km.
ISKCON Ujjain stands at Hare Krishna Land, Bharatpuri, in the south-east of Ujjain. Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is in the old city, 6.5 km away by road. That gap should decide where you sleep. This guide gives routed road and walking distances from every hotel on our verified list to the temple, explains why booking-site "near ISKCON" lists disagree, and sets out what is and is not confirmed about the ISKCON guest house. To compare every option by its walk time to Mahakal, see all verified hotels in Ujjain with walk times.
First, the method. Every distance on this page is an estimate, routed over OpenStreetMap roads and footpaths from the position we hold for each hotel. We have not stayed at these hotels, nothing here is an endorsement, and we publish no prices or ratings. Rates change daily, so check them in the where-to-book panel on each hotel page.
Hotels near ISKCON Temple Ujjain: the short answer
If your trip centres on ISKCON, two verified hotels are within a half-hour walk of the temple. Hotel Shri Salasar is 1.8 km on foot (about 24 minutes) and Nirvana Boutique Hotel is 1.9 km (about 26 minutes). By car, both are around 3 minutes away at free-flow speed, which is how the routing engine counts time. Real traffic will add to that, especially in the evening and on festival days.
Four more hotels sit within about 3 km by road: Hotel Mittal Avenue (2.6 km), MPT Shipra Residency (2.8 km), Krishnaalay Guest House (3.0 km) and MPT Ujjaini (3.1 km). Walking from these takes 34 to 40 minutes, so most visitors will take an auto-rickshaw or drive. The next group lies 3.6 to 5 km out. The hotels clustered around Mahakal are 5.4 to 5.6 km by road from ISKCON.
If you plan to visit ISKCON and Mahakal on the same trip, no hotel is close to both. Pick the side of the city where you will spend your early mornings, and use a vehicle for the other temple.
Where ISKCON Ujjain is, and why booking-site "near" distances disagree
Two independent listings, YatraDham and the tour site ujjaindarshan.com, give the temple's location as Hare Krishna Land, Bharatpuri, Ujjain. In OpenStreetMap the temple is mapped as node 3696037864, tagged as a place of worship named "Iscon Temple", at 23.1614 N, 75.7999 E. That point lies south-east of the old city and of the Mahakal temple complex, on the side of Ujjain that faces the roads to Indore and Dewas.
How far is ISKCON from Mahakal? According to ujjaindarshan.com, about 4.5 km, and about 3 km from Ujjain Junction railway station. The 4.5 km figure is close to the straight-line gap between the two temples. When we routed the trip over OpenStreetMap, the shortest road route from the mapped ISKCON point to the Mahakal temple complex came to 6.5 km, about 9 minutes with no traffic. The walking route came to 5.4 km, about 72 minutes. Both sets of numbers can be right: one measures a line on a map, the other the roads you would actually use.
Booking-site landmark pages add to the confusion. In search results checked on 9 November 2026, a Trip.com landing page for hotels near ISKCON Ujjain listed Hotel Abika Elite at 1.23 km and Hotel Kalpana Palace at 1.49 km from the temple. On our routing, both hotels sit in the Mahakal belt, 4.5 km and 5.1 km by road from the mapped temple point. A misplaced landmark pin is the likeliest explanation. Whatever the cause, a "near ISKCON" filter on a booking site can surface hotels on the far side of the city, so check each hotel's map position against the temple before you pay.
Road and walking distance from verified hotels to ISKCON
The table covers 24 hotels from the hotelsinujjain.in verified list, sorted by road distance to the mapped ISKCON point. Hotel positions mostly come from booking-site map pins, so treat each row as a routed estimate rather than a measured fact. The position-confidence column shows how sure we are of each hotel's location. Two rows with low-confidence positions are marked approximate.

Within about 3 km by road
Hotel Shri Salasar and Nirvana Boutique Hotel are the only verified hotels where walking to ISKCON is a realistic everyday option. At 24 to 26 minutes each way, a morning walk to the temple and back is manageable for most adults, less so with children or older relatives. Hotel Mittal Avenue, listed under the Mittal group with a Nanakheda address, is the next closest at 2.6 km by road and on foot.
MPT Shipra Residency and MPT Ujjaini are both run by the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation. They sit 2.8 km and 3.1 km from ISKCON by road. Krishnaalay Guest House is 3.0 km by road but only 2.7 km on foot, because the walking route can use paths a car cannot. From all four, budget for a short auto-rickshaw or taxi ride rather than a walk.
3 to 5 km: the middle ring
Hotel Imperial Grand (3.6 km), Hotel Shree Aaradhy (4.2 km), Anjushree (4.3 km), Hotel Abika Elite (4.5 km), Hotel Aamantran Avenue (4.8 km) and Treebo Neel Orchid (5.0 km) form a middle ring. Note two quirks. Anjushree is 4.3 km by road but 3.5 km on foot, and Hotel Aamantran Avenue is 4.8 km by road but 4.1 km on foot, so a direct walk can be shorter than the drive. Neither is a walk to repeat daily. From this ring, ISKCON and the old city are both a short drive away.
Mahakal-belt hotels
FabHotel Raghumani Palace, Hotel Manthan Palace, Hotel Nandi and Hotel Maheshwari Avenue are among the closest verified hotels to Mahakal, and they are 5.4 to 5.6 km by road from ISKCON. Treat ISKCON as a planned trip from these, not a stroll. Rudraksh Club & Resort and Meghdoot Hotel & Resorts show the opposite of the walking shortcut: 8.0 km and 9.3 km by road, but only about 5.1 to 5.3 km on foot, because the road network forces a long detour.
Can you walk from your hotel to ISKCON? From the first two hotels, yes, if a 25-minute walk on city roads suits you. From anywhere beyond about 2 km, plan on a vehicle.
Staying at the ISKCON guest house: what is publicly listed
Does ISKCON Ujjain have a guest house? Third-party listings say it does. Both YatraDham and ujjaindarshan.com describe guest accommodation at the temple campus at Hare Krishna Land, Bharatpuri. That location is the one detail we can confirm from two sources. Everything else in circulation, including a street number and PIN code, room types, amenities, check-in and check-out times and food on site, comes from a single third-party page. We could not confirm any of it from a second source or from the temple itself.
The guest house is not on our verified hotel list, so it has no distance row and no hotel page here. If you want to stay on the campus, contact the temple directly and get the room type, the price and the check-in time confirmed in writing before you travel.

ISKCON side or Mahakal side: which suits your trip
ISKCON to Mahakal is 6.5 km by road, about 9 minutes with empty roads and longer in daytime traffic. On foot it is 5.4 km, roughly 72 minutes. You can visit both temples in a day, but neither is "nearby" the other. The right side to stay on depends on what you will do first each morning and how you are travelling.
| If you… | Stay | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Are coming mainly for ISKCON programmes or kirtan | ISKCON side: Hotel Shri Salasar or Nirvana Boutique Hotel | 1.8–1.9 km on foot, about 24–26 minutes |
| Plan a pre-dawn darshan at Mahakal | Mahakal side | ISKCON is 6.5 km by road and about 72 minutes on foot from Mahakal |
| Split your days between both temples | Either side, with a vehicle | No verified hotel is within an easy walk of both |
| Want to sleep on the temple campus | The ISKCON guest house | Location confirmed; all other details must be confirmed with the temple |
| Travel with older relatives or small children | Next to the temple you will visit most | Walks beyond about 2 km are tiring; the other temple becomes a short drive |
Early-morning Mahakal darshan
If a pre-dawn visit to Mahakaleshwar is the centre of your trip, sleep near Mahakal and make ISKCON a day trip. A 72-minute walk or an early taxi is a poor start to a darshan that begins before sunrise. Our guide to where to stay in Ujjain by area compares the old-city belt with the outer neighbourhoods.
Arriving by bus or from Indore or Dewas
ISKCON is on the Nanakheda side of town, the side facing the roads from Indore and Dewas. If you arrive by road from those cities or at Nanakheda bus stand, the ISKCON-side hotels avoid a crossing of the old city on arrival. If you arrive by train, ujjaindarshan.com puts Ujjain Junction railway station about 3 km from ISKCON. Check the distance from your arrival point on each hotel's page before you book.
Driving your own car
Drive times in the table assume free-flowing traffic, so add a margin for peak hours and festival days. We do not list parking for any hotel, because we could not confirm it from two independent sources. Ask the hotel in writing whether it has parking for your vehicle, and whether that parking is on site or in a public lot.
How we measured these distances
The temple point is the ISKCON node in OpenStreetMap. The Mahakal point is the temple complex as mapped in OpenStreetMap (way 373720479), the same point the rest of hotelsinujjain.in uses. Hotel positions come from the verified hotel dataset behind this site, where each hotel has a position-confidence label. Most positions are booking-site map pins, a few are mapped OpenStreetMap features, and two are low confidence.
Road distances and drive minutes come from the public OSRM router. Walking distances and minutes come from a foot-routing profile over the same map data. Both were computed on 9 November 2026. Drive minutes are free-flow, meaning no traffic, signals or festival diversions. The full method, including how we convert routes to walking minutes, is on our page explaining how we measure walking time. If you are comparing other temple neighbourhoods, the same method powers our list of hotels near Kal Bhairav Temple, on the north side of the city.
Booking checklist for an ISKCON-focused stay
- Check the map, not the label. Open the hotel's location on a map and compare it with the temple at Hare Krishna Land, Bharatpuri. The Trip.com example above shows how a "near ISKCON" label can be several kilometres out.
- Treat "walking distance" with care. Only two verified hotels are under 2 km on foot. Anything past that is a ride.
- Decide your morning temple first. If Mahakal comes first, stay on the Mahakal side and visit ISKCON later in the day.
- Get guest-house details in writing. For the ISKCON guest house, confirm room type, price and check-in time directly with the temple.
- Confirm temple timings with the temple. We do not publish ISKCON aarti or opening times, because the only listing we found is unofficial.
- Ask about parking before you arrive. We do not list parking for any hotel.
- Read the cancellation terms. Note the free-cancellation deadline, especially around festivals.
To compare, start with the full verified list. Each hotel page shows its walk time to Mahakal and a where-to-book panel with current rates from the booking sites.
